Happy first blogiversary Rhubarbarians! Today marks the official day that Rhubarbarians turns 1. To celebrate, we are sharing the BEST recipes from the last year. Everything from breakfast to cocktails. WOOT!
Wow, where the heck does the time go? I can’t believe it’s been 12 whole months since Rhubarbarians began. I’ve been through each season, and each and every day. Mind=blown.
First off, I just want to say thank you thank you thank you to all of the readers out there. Without you, this blog wouldn’t be where it is. I really and truly appreciate you! Thank you!
So, today, I’m sharing some of my favorite recipes from the past year. They may not be the most popular, but they are the BEST! I think that sometimes pretty pictures become more popular than taste, so these deserve another shot. The blogiversary award winners!
FAVORITE BREAKFAST: Dutch baby with honey roasted rhubarb
Think…… elephant ear with soft, tart fruit for breakfast. This one was SO killer you guys! Dessert for breakfast. Can’t go wrong.
FAVORITE COCKTAIL: Blood orange rosemary gin cocktail
I call these, “get you drunk bombs.” They taste like delicious, fresh squeezed blood orange juice, but don’t be fooled. That is MOSTLY BOOZE IN THERE!
FAVORITE APPETIZER: Walnut olive basil cream cheese + crackers
This dip (or spread, or whatevs), was inspired by a bakery that I loved while living in Olympia, WA. Be warned, you might eat the whole tub!
FAVORITE SANDWICH: Grilled ham and cheese with mustardy rhubarb jam
It’s not a coincidence that this is the 2nd rhubarb recipe on this list. IT’S THE BEST VEGGIE EVER! If you don’t believe me, try out this sandwich and tell me I’m wrong.
FAVORITE PASTA: Asparagus and pea pasta with caramelized onion sauce
This is actually my favorite dish on the entire blog. CARAMELIZED ONION SAUCE! omg.
FAVORITE LUNCH: Spicy shrimp and mango cherry salsa avocado boats
The shrimp are pan fried in a spicy, smoky sauce. Then dropped into an avocado and covered in fruity salsa. Oh yes.
FAVORITE SALAD: Spicy watermelon arugula salad
My favorite Summer meal! Spicy serrano, refreshing watermelon, peppery arugula, and citrusy lime juice. YUM!
FAVORITE GLOBAL FEASTS DISH: Sweet potato bolani with garlic yogurt sauce
I am not hosting Global Feasts anymore (wah-wuh), but this Afghan favorite was by far the best dish from the series. Super simple and super delicious!
FAVORITE DESSERT: Belgian chocolate mousse with raspberry lambic sauce
You guys. That’s boozy raspberry sauce up there. On top of light as a cloud Belgian chocolate mousse. MMMMM…… these didn’t last long!
Well, there you have it. My favorite recipes from the last year!
Once again, thank you so much you guys! YOU keep Rhubarbarians afloat and I am ever so grateful. Makin a gal’s dreams come true! Anything you’d like to see in the next year? Something new? Something revamped? More of the same? Let me know!
Cheers to year #2. 🙂
