Blend all of the ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth.
1 large navel orange, peeled, ½ cup plain yogurt of your choice, ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract, ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
Serve immediately. Enjoy!
Notes
The blender: fresh orange needs a high powered blender to become smooth. A weak blender or food processor will not work. Go for a high speed blender or smoothie maker!
Blender tip: be sure that the yogurt is at the bottom of the blender and not the orange. This will help the blender puree the smoothie.
The yogurt: for a thick, creamy consistency, use full fat or Greek yogurt.
The vanilla: if you have vanilla yogurt, go ahead and use that rather than plain yogurt with vanilla extract. Your smoothie will be much sweeter, but very delicious!
Dairy free: go ahead and use your favorite plain dairy free yogurt instead of cow's milk yogurt.
The cinnamon: I love the flavor of the cinnamon, but leave it out if you'd like!
The sweetness: there isn't any added sugar in this smoothie, but I find that it's sweet enough. For a sweeter smoothie, go ahead and add some sweetener of your choice like maple syrup or honey.
Add ice: to make it super cold, add ice to the smoothie! Or better yet, freeze the orange segments and use those!
Make it tropical: add a banana and some pineapple for a delicious tropical smoothie.
