A pumpkin smoothie with no banana!
Yep! There's no banana in this mega-creamy pumpkin smoothie!
There are only a few ingredients here: yogurt, pumpkin puree, honey, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla. That's it!
This pumpkin pie smoothie gets super creamy from the yogurt and the pumpkin puree. We add a bit of sweetness with the honey and vanilla. No need for banana to make this one sweet, creamy, and delicious.

A healthy and filling breakfast
This healthy pumpkin smoothie is super filling, making it the perfect fall breakfast. It's loaded with protein (20g in one smoothie), and carbohydrates so it'll give you energy and keep you full all morning long.
It's a great way to get your daily dose of probiotics too. The yogurt and the honey are both good sources of probiotics.
The benefits of pumpkin
Pumpkin is a powerhouse in the nutrition department!
One cup of cubed pumpkin has only 30 calories, but is packed with plant based protein, fiber, and healthy carbs. Pumpkin is a wonderful source of vitamin A and beta carotene. Ref: Healthline
Note: If using canned pumpkin puree, be sure to choose 100% pure unsweetened pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling.
Choose the right yogurt
It's important to choose the right yogurt when making a healthy pumpkin smoothie! We recommend plain low fat yogurt that you like the taste of (our favorite is Nancy's).
Stick with plain yogurt and sweeten it with your own sweetener and vanilla. You'll use much less than store bought vanilla yogurt loaded with sugar!
Here are some great yogurt options:
- plain greek yogurt
- plain kefir
- plain nonfat yogurt
- plant based yogurt such as cashew or oat yogurt

How to make it
All you need is a blender! Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. That's it!
Alternatively, you could use an immersion blender or a food processor.
Our favorite way to make smoothies is with the Ninja Blender smoothie attachment. It makes the perfect sized single smoothie that comes out super smooth and creamy.
Pro tip: freeze your pumpkin puree in an ice cube tray to make an extra thick and cold smoothie!
Prep ahead, storing, and freezing tips
Prep ahead: This smoothie is great for meal prep! You can either make a single serving ahead or make a large batch and keep it in the fridge for easy grand and go smoothies.
Storing: Store the leftover smoothie or pre-made smoothie in the refrigerator in a container with a tight fitting lid for up to 2 days. Stir well before serving.
Freezing: Smoothies freeze very well! You can freeze the smoothie in a freezer safe container with tight fitting lid for up to 3 months. Defrost in the refrigerator and stir very well before serving. Yogurt can become grainy after being frozen, but still delicious.
FAQs

The texture was very smooth and exceptionally creamy as stated; however, the taste/tang of the yogurt was overwhelming and almost completely wiped out the pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, honey, and pumpkin flavors. I tried adding some Truvia sweetener, cinnamon, and nutmeg, in an attempt to cut the yogurt tang, but didn’t help. If I do decide to try it again, I will definitely cut back on amount of yogurt. Disappointed as I was excited about this recipe.
